People sometimes think it costs too much to live in the ‘will of God;’ time, effort, sacrifice. But think what it costs NOT to live in His will. If God’s people are to experience a Holy Spirit revival, we must stop measuring the cost of our service and start seeking and accepting God’s call for us without any reservation or conditions. Remember what Jesus said: Mt 11:30: “…My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Think on this. The greatest form of suffering comes to those who discover that the pursuit of worldly pleasures in life can never satisfy, and then come to a grim realization, in vain they have wasted their life, so sad. 1 Peter 4:2: “That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.”
Let me give you three exhortations concerning the ‘will of God’. First, simply seek to Follow Him wherever His will takes you. Do this and you will discover His plan for your life. You may think, “I don’t know exactly what that is.” That’s okay, He does know. Just trust that Jesus will never lead you where He will not go with you. He knows where He wants you to go, how you’ll get there, and what you’ll do once you arrive. Say today, Lord I will follow You!
Second, follow Him by faith. Do this and you will discover His power in your life. Honestly, this is probably the hardest part for most of us. We frail human beings like to know all the details first. To trust in the unknown is like going to the dentist and letting him/her do whatever they feel like and not tell you about it. When you were a child and Mom and Dad said, “you want to go on a ride with me?” Well how often did you say no? Did you ask where they were going, how long you’d be gone? Or did you hurry and jump in the car? It was fun to go with them and see where you’d go, why they could take you to get an ice cream or even the toy store. Trusting our Heavenly Father is deeper than that I confess, but faith tells me, wherever Jesus is going, count me in! Our God knows how to give us the best every time. He will never take you to a place that He has not already prepared. Now we all believe that Jesus has gone to prepare a place for us in heaven. Well, in this world He does the same when it comes to living in His will. He goes before us and prepares the way before we receive His call to go there. It says in: Ephesians 6:6 we are to serve the Lord: “Not with eye service, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart.”
Lastly, we must seek His will if we want to fellowship with Him. Do this and you discover His presence in your life. Jesus said in Mark 3:35 “For whoever does the will of God is My brother and My sister and mother.” He is talking about you and me as a part of His family. I have found sweet satisfaction in my life by seeking His will for me and Terri. The more of His will I discover for us, the more blessed the fellowship becomes. You can’t separate the two…following His will brings fellowship, and abiding in His presence brings countless blessings.
If you want to know His will in at least one area of your life right now, do this: 1 Thessalonians 5:18 “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
It is my desire that we all discover God’s will for us individually and as a church body. I sense revival is at the door. Together let us push it open and say, “Lord Jesus come in to us, abide with us and show us Your perfect will.” The Revelation 3:20 Amen!
Be Encouraged, Jesus loves you!
