#15 Why do people die even when they are active with God?
Great question: The Bible doesn't teach that we are guaranteed a long life here on earth because we follow the Lord and do 'good' things. Many Godly people (to include children of Godly parents) depart this life at a relatively early age. The important thing for us to remember is in Christ alone we have 'eternal' life from the moment we accept Jesus as our Savior (John 3:16). When a person dies in body here, they are immediately in the presence of the Lord..."Absent from the body, present with the Lord" 1 Corinthian 5:3
The Lord says that man's days on earth are like a 'vapor' (here today, gone tomorrow).
Of course we hurt when we lose those close to us, but our encouragement is, they are now with Christ and rejoice in His presence. Our comfort, if we are saved, is that someday we will see them again and rejoice together with our Lord.
If nothing tragic happens in this life as in accident or disease, it is possible to live 70+ years, mainly because we are keeping our life and body free from the worldly temptations that can subtract years from our life; i.e., drinking, smoking, drugs, over eating, lack of exercise, etc.
The Bible teaches that our days are in His capable hands. Why some good Christian people (family/friends) go to glory before their time is beyond our comprehension. Our faith and trust in the goodness and grace of God can help us to accept His will in these difficult times. Again, it doesn't keep us from hurt and pain, but the joy of knowing a loved one is with Jesus is comforting.
If you have lost someone close to you, may I express my sorrow at your loss. I also encourage you in the Lord to pray for wisdom (James 1:5), and God's grace to comfort you in this time. Also important you ask the Lord to use your loss as a witness and opportunity to comfort someone else during this time. God will give you that ability... read 1 Corinthians 1:3-7.
I noticed you are under 18. I am assuming you may have lost someone close to you. IF that is the case may I encourage you to seek out good Christian friends and make time to stop by your pastor's office to get some counseling and prayer. It will help you.
If you have never made a decision for Christ as your Savior, please take time right now to ask the Lord Jesus to forgive you of sin and tell Him that you repent and want Him to be your Savior now. He promises to save you if you ask Him: "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Romans 10:13
May God richly bless you and show you His will in all things is my prayer.
