‘The Way of life’ should be the goal of every Christian. I want to encourage you to set your heart upon The Way of life that you will be determined and disciplined, so that nothing in this world in temptations or trials will deter you from it.
Proverbs 10:17 says: “He who keeps instruction IS in the way of life.” People sometimes ask: ‘what is the way and how do I find it?’ This Proverb says it simply: the key to knowing you are in ‘The Way of life’, is when you find you are ‘keeping’ the instructions that God has already given to you. Let me give you a few guidelines to stay strong:
First, keep the Word of God as if it were your most valuable treasure. All the instructions you will ever need for life are contained in God’s Word. By heeding His Word, you’ll find you are already in ‘The Way of life’. Remember the passage says ‘He who keeps….IS in the way of life.’ The Word of God is your heavenly map in this journey of life.
Second, keep your eyes on the good road God has placed you. Don’t fret whether you are in His will here or there. God will ensure that you are hedged in securely in His will when you seek Him.
Third, keep coming to church and get involved in Bible study and weekly services. This will help you stay fresh and assured in ‘spirit and in truth’. The word ‘keep’ in this passage means to set a guard or a hedge around. So keep God’s instructions when it comes to worship and service.
Fourth, when we are in ‘The Way of life’, it means we are concerned about life itself; not only ours but the lives of others. Jesus said: “I am the Way the Truth and the Life.” The Bible teaches that in Jesus there is life itself. So when we are in ‘The Way’, we will enjoy life to the fullest, and have a desire that others will come to know the Lord of Life as well.
People in the world are desperately searching, looking, and hoping to find what life is all about. Wanting to find just the right combination of money, relationships, and career believing this is the answer to life and that will satisfy the deep longing for life. But they can’t find it outside of Jesus Christ. Matthew 6:33 says: “Seek ye FIRST the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and ALL these things will be added to you.” When we find Jesus we discover life, and then He adds everything to our lives that will make it joyful and meaningful.
So, if you find you are ‘keeping’ His instruction, you will discover you are in ‘The Way’ that Jesus wants for you, and His way is always the best that life has to offer.
