The book of Revelation is one of my favorite books. It isn’t just a prophetic book about the last days, it is a book that reveals to us the Person of Christ and His glory. Revelation 1:1 says: “The Revelation of Jesus Christ…” I have read the book many times, and preached through it several times. It continues to open up the mysteries and glory of Christ each time we read it. I pray that you also read God’s Revelation.
In the first couple chapters we see the ‘Indescribable’ Christ. The Revelation 1:8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega…” Jesus is the first and the last word in all things. The bible says in the final judgment, He alone will have the last word in every reward given and each punishment handed down. It also says He is “the Beginning and the End.” The word ‘beginning’ is a title. It means He is the ‘source’ of all things created. Think of Disney World and all its attractions. A little child will be in awe at what they see. They ask their parents where did it come from, and the parents answer: “It all ‘began’ with Walt Disney.” See, all that “is,” began with the Lord Jesus. One day soon, all things will come to an end, just as He has decreed.
John was only given visions of the glorified Christ, and can only describe Him in human words. These words utterly fail to ascribe to Him all the glory and majesty that is our Savior. It says He has “feet like fine brass”, “Eyes like a flame of fire”, “Hair white like wool, as white as snow”, “His voice is as the sound of many waters.” Yes, Jesus is indescribable in His Person.
Jesus is also “indistinguishable” from all so-called gods of this world. All other man-made gods in this world have their flaws and failures. They are marked with characteristics common to man, but Jesus is not only far above man, but far above His very creation. The Bible teaches that the glory of God fills the heavens. Isaiah 6:1 says: “I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple….The whole earth is full of his glory.” Jesus is far removed from anything we can think God to be. We will just have to wait until we see Him to grasp the fullness of His glory. He is indistinguishable from anything or anyone we could ever imagine.
The Bible teaches that Jesus is: ‘Immutable”. Personally, this is one of my favorite attributes about God. It simply means, God cannot change, ever! Malachi 3:6 “For I am the Lord, I do not change; therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.” He never changes His mind about the last days; all things will be accomplished as He has predetermined. He does not change His mind about you. If you are saved, God never says, “Oops, I made a mistake with that one.” God knows all about you, He knows what you will do, say, and choose before you do, and yet He fully loves you and will not change His mind about your eternal future in heaven with Him. Changeless means, that God never has to ‘rethink’ something. He never regrets a decision He has made. He always does the right thing. God never makes a mistake. Nothing God has designed ever needs fixing, although one day He will make all things new. The great thing to remember is this, God will never change His mind about you. The Bible says, “The gifts and calling of God are without repentance.” If He has called you to a task, He expects you to finish it. You can praise the Lord for that.
I pray that you will reflect on the greatness of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for indeed, there is NO ONE LIKE OUR JESUS!
May God richly bless is my prayer.
