Can you believe it has been four years since the last election? Don’t you just feel the excitement, or is that anxiety? Whatever state of mind you may find yourself, one thing is sure, this next election on November 8 is going to have an impact on the direction of our country.
We are most blessed as a country to have the privilege of free elections. Check your history, other countries have elections today because of what America began in the 1700’s after the revolution. Our Constitution was drafted with the specific purpose to outline our freedoms and responsibilities as a free nation. It is our God given privilege AND duty to take part in the election of leaders and officials.
Let me give you a few reminders that will encourage you this election cycle.
1) God is in control! He set the guidelines in Deuteronomy. 17:18-20 for how a ‘leader’ was to govern. The problem today, many of our leaders do not even acknowledge the Lord, much less seek Him. That leads us to this:
2) We are commanded to pray for our leaders…Titus 3:1; Romans 13:1-10. God can change the heart of any ruler if He chooses to do so, let us be found faithful on our part to pray for God’s intervention.
3) Remain faithful to your calling and service to Christ our true King. The Kingdom work must continue, and we can’t give up, give in, or give over to the enemy.
4) Be sure you go VOTE! in this election. Pray and Go!
Terri and I voted today, and with a clear conscience we are trusting God with the outcome. I can honestly say as with some of you, I wrestled this election like with no other as to what I should do. But as soon as I cast my ballot, I had peace that God has the outcome in His own hand.
Be encouraged, have hope, and rest your faith in His wisdom. Remember the Word says that ‘the heart of the ‘kings’ rest in the hands of the Lord, and He turns it whichever way He chooses.’
Be faithful to our Lord Jesus, support the church, use your gifts, give to the work, be thankful and Love one another!
May God richly bless you
