At times people come to me in a state of bewilderment wondering what just happened…they gave their life to the Lord, or rededicated themselves to God’s calling and all sorts of bad things have begun to happen. They thought when you get ‘Saved’ or fully commit yourself to the Lord, all things are supposed to work out for the better in this old world. Whoops! Unfortunately, the opposite could be true. You see, when a lost person or carnal believer is walking in the Devil’s field, the enemy has no interest in what you or I do nor does he care for our half-hearted commitment to God. He knows we are not effective in our walk at that time. However, when we get ‘right’ with God, all of a sudden things begin to get lively! Let me tell you three areas that are immediately affected so you will be aware what is happening.
1) When a believer commits to studying God’s Word we will get the Devil’s attention. He does not want us to learn more about God or about him and his strategies. Yet, the positive side, when we read the Bible we get God’s wisdom.
2) As soon as you begin to make a concerted effort to have a personal prayer time, you arouse the Devil’s anger. The last thing he wants is for us to have a one-on-one personal fellowship with our Lord. Through the blessing of prayer, we realize our walk is with God and we are to enjoy daily fellowship with Him. God blesses through answered prayer, and sweet communion, which causes us to pray even more. The Devil knows very well, the greatest opposition to his plans is a ‘praying Christian’.
3) Lastly, when we are committed fully to our walk with God He will lead us to ‘soul-winning’. That will unleash the Devil’s direct attack on your life and witness. Don’t be discouraged about this, nor give up, when you begin to share your faith with others, you know you are walking in God’s ways for your life. These are three areas you should be aware so you can be prepared when it comes. Stay the Course!
Mercy, already another half-year has come and gone so quickly. Take a look back over the past six months and ask, “Have I stayed the course in following the Lord?” If yes, praise the Lord and continue to ask for His direction for the rest of the year. You don’t ever want to come up short in accomplishing His will for your life. He always has the best plan!
If for some reason you have become discouraged and have strayed from the course, ask forgiveness and strength to return to the path God has set for you. The Bible says, “The steps of a good man/woman are ordered by the LORD, and He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the LORD upholds him with His hand.” Psalm 37:23-24
What a great encouragement! If God is for you, who can be against you? Certainly the Devil can’t bring you to defeat when you set your heart upon God.
May God be pleased to bless us again,
